The tour is organized by SITMo in partnership with the Bayninan Farmers’ Organization. It is part of the yearly Rice Terraces Cycle Tours, started by SITMo in August 2006.

BOTOK AD KIANGAN

Botok, or pfoto’ refers to the harvest stage of the rice cycle. Unlike the hybrid varieties, the Ifugao tinawon is harvested by individual panicles. The panicles are then bundled in measured sizes called botok. The harvesters chant hudhud, which is an ifugao epic of love, adventure, heroism and valor.

During the Botok Tour, visitors try their hands in the use of gamulang, a traditional implement in harvesting the Ifugao rice.
